Building A Chicken Coop In A Horse Stall






This lessens my work load tremendously, because i only have to clean the stall rather than 3 coops. in the fall, i cull my older flock to reduce my winter feed bill. this also allows for a smaller coop area. you can go all out with building your horse stall to meet your chickens expectation, but i chose the easy way.. Our chicken coop has a dirt floor, so to prevent animals from digging under the walls to get in, we put down gravel and then 12″ x 12″ pavers along the one outside wall. we lined another 10 pavers on the opposite side of the wall where there is another horse stall.. A friend of mine just built a coop out of one of her stalls in the barn. she just cut a hole in the bottom of the stall door so the chickens could come and go into the barn aisle out into the horse lots. hers are pretty free from above. mine are totally inclosed. i'll take some photos and post them here in a bit..
